Now that we’re headed back into colder weather, I thought I’d release the next free knitting pattern in my seamless headband series: the Chunky Antler Headband.
This headband uses the classic antler cable pattern to create a beautiful seamless headband that works up fast and keeps you warm. It’s worked flat, but uses a provisional cast on and grafting to make it entirely seamless. It really is a beautiful headband that can keep you both stylish and warm this winter.
The skills you’ll need for this headband are provisional cast on, grafting in pattern, and cabling.
For instructions on how to cable, please visit this blog post or this youtube video. For instructions on how to do a provisional cast on, please visit this blog post or this youtube video. For instructions on how to graft in pattern, please visit this blog post or this youtube video. All of the tutorials are very educational and this is a great project to learn and develop those skills.
For this pattern, you’ll need:
- 1 skein of Lion Brand Hometown USA in Key Largo Tweed or your preferred colorway
- Size US 11 (8 mm) knitting needles
- Cable Needle
- at least 1-2 yards of scrap yarn
- crochet hook
- tapestry needle
Because this is a free pattern, the pattern is only available on my ravelry (download now). I will however be listing the sample knit of this headband on my etsy if you want the headband but don’t want to make it yourself.
I hope you enjoy this pattern. If you do make one, please tag me on instagram @sarascraftcorner or use hashtag #sarascraftcorner. I would love to see your work!
Happy knitting!
