Hello! My name is Sara and welcome to Sara’s Craft Corner, a place for all things knitting, crocheting, and more.
My Story
When I was 6 years old, my great-aunt taught me how to knit and crochet. While I wasn’t very good at it, I fell deeply in love with crafting and creating. I remember spending hours with her listening to the radio or watching TV and creating very wonky granny squares that would ultimately lead to nothing. And while I didn’t create much, I did create memories that I cherish and a lasting warmth in my heart whenever I pick up my yarn.
As a teenager, I started perfecting my abilities. My edges were no longer uneven, my pieces were no longer filled with unintentional dropped stitches. I started venturing into more complex patterns and stitches and really became confident in my craft. I was frequently seen with a project in my bag, and earned the nickname of “grandma friend” in my circle. Despite the uniqueness of being a teenage crafter and the nature of teenagers, I was still very much in love with yarn crafts. I still felt the warmth in my heart and peace of mind whenever I would create.
In 2015, I became a stay at home mom to my wonderful son. Not only has that decision given me the ability to enjoy every moment of his baby years, it also gave me the ability to focus on and expand my abilities in the yarn crafting world. In 2017, I stumbled upon my grandma’s old tatting shuttle and began teaching myself, eventually creating my first tatted piece.
To this day, I continue to learn both more in crocheting and knitting, but also venturing into other creative endeavors.
Why I Started Sara’s Craft Corner
Yarn crafting has provided me with so much in my life. From a creative outlet to a peace in life’s storms to a sense of fulfillment and joy, crafting has made an immensely positive impact on my life. I want to be able to spread that creative joy, teaching people of all skill levels and inspiring others to get out and create. In our world today, I believe that crafting and creating can be a way to spread positivity and inner peace to people. I’m hoping with this site, I can spread the joy of yarn crafting to this and future generations.
